1 Tb

Yep, it had to happen sooner or later. The purchase of a very large Hard drive. The cost of which was favourable, if not better than ebay and I got to take it home there and then. The options were Western Digital or Samsung and I believe Seagate. Western Digital was a definite no no, seeing as I have had 3 fail in as many months. My trust in that brand is less than zero. Seagate, good solid drives and as far as I can recall, no issues. Samsung it was to be and for the extra dollars I bought the 1 Terrabyte. Jesus, 1 Terrabyte. I can recall thinking that 1Gb drive was the way to go many years gone by. Ahh, those were the days. How could you function with a 1 Gig drive these days? Hell I couldn’t. My memory quota is more than 1 Gig.

The other purchase was another PSU for the Media PC. The other PSU was ok, except too many cables taking up too much cooling potential. So we opted for a modular style supply, whereby you choose which cables you need, apart from the generic, Mobo and CPU connector, plus the PCIE supply connector. Thus far all is going well…ooops, shouldn’t have said that should I?

The machine now boasts a respectable storage capacity of 1.7 Terrabytes. Crazy I know, but when you are starting to backup your DVD collection, the ‘small’ drives are soon swallowed up. The only thing that remains is the Mobo upgrade to something a little more funky and Dual/Quad core capable with the option to have more than two PCI cards installed, plus HDMI connections and Optical in/out would be superb.
