Today was also spent getting fish for the tank. I mentioned in one of my previous post’s that the tank was ready to go, so today we went to our local Aquarium. Aquarium is not one word I would use for a few tanks and ‘some’ fish. Anyway, after looking round and not seeing anything that pleased us, we drove to the Aquarium at Yagoona. As always the shop is full of all you need for starting out with fish and maintaining your fish. Things like food always help
Anyway, we wandered round and looked at all the fish. We went for Blue Gouramis, Platys and a Siamese Fighting fish.
The Help yourself to fish shopping method works well, as you can get amongst the fish with the net, always good fun trying to catch the little bastards. Fortunately the Platy’s were fairly easy. This was due to filling up the little plastic bucket from within the tank they are in and watching the stupid fish swim into it ..AH HA!!!!!! Just don’t try this with Pirahna. (moreso as they are marine – not tropical). So all my fish nicely captured and off to the counter to pay, just the food to get and some stress coat, to ease them into the tanks and minimise stress.
Whilst in the shop I asked the most fatal of questions. “do you do Lay By’s?” Oh yes we do, we also do something called ezi pay. You pay a 25% deposit on your goods and pay weekly/fortnightly or monthly – NO INTEREST!!!! OOOps, Sam quickly grabbed me by the arm and walked me out of the shop…Yes there were a few tanks I wouldnt mind owning, well just one for now. You see I have always wanted a big fat ass tank, with external filter maybe and a real rock back drop, centre piece and plants that fill the tank and make the fish really at home. But alas big fat ass tanks cost more than my fat ass can fork out in one go. So I will look into the possibility of getting one tank and cabinet complete with substrate and real plants, some silk plants, external filter and an air pump
