crazy times

I have to say that I will be most happy when this week is over. Work is chaos, home is chaos and the drive home was chaos. Has the whole world turned to six kinds of crazy? A simple quest to have a unified backup procedure implemented has turned from simple to bizarre. The constant bemused look on my bosses face as we discuss the whys and the wherefores. I am even at a point of shaking my head. We have one option which then turns into a miriad of options and each costs just a little bit more than the next. My advice to anyone seriously considering a role in IT, go buy a gun and put one round in the chamber and aim at ones head, gently squeeze that friggin trigger. In other words – DON’T.

Traffic was crazy, people not paying attention, debris everywhere, slow traffic – yes I know its Sydney, but come on people. Open your eyes and pay attention to what is around you. Whilst I was sat in my car, waiting to move yet another couple of metres before the tail lights came on again. I looked in my rear view mirror and probably witnessed some act of L’amour being enjoyed in an X5. Without going into details. I can only assume as to what was going on. And to put the record straight, the fact that I assumed does not mean it was on my mind, after the day I have had, it was the furthest thing from my mind!

The house appears to be growing walls. I detoured to the house this afternoon and found a further addition to what was there yesterday. I do have one concern though. I do believe that the house is being built by Hobbits.

House Update

We are in…almost

Weekend of chaos, hot, hot weather and we are almost in. Just need to finish off packing sorting the other rubbish and clean house top to bottom and we are done.

House Move update

And so it begins. If all goes to plan, we shall be moving into our new abode on Saturday. The chaos of moving house has to be hated by every man and his dog. How organised you are will determine how quickly you move from point A to point B. This time I believe it will be a hectic 2 days of walking back and too from the Truck, van, ute or car. If you have planned ahead then it would be prudent to let someone else have the hassle of moving all your crap from one place to another.

At this point we are probably 60 percent packed with another 2 days to go before the big move. The obvious items which lurk in doorways are gradually building up. Bedrooms are now becoming box rooms with a place to sleep – if you are lucky. The one thing that always gets you, are those items you don’t want to pack away just yet, which gradually builds up to a whole heap of stuff, that hangs around and invariably doesn’t get used, then gets thrown into a box/bag/boot of car/footwell and back seat and no doubt remain there for 3 or 4 days. ‘I must take that inside – I will need that…’ Sound familiar?

As much as I hate moving, it means we are one step closer to moving once more into the ‘New’ house. Speaking of which, I haven’t been near the build since Friday of last week. So it will be very interesting to see what has happened in my absence. The builders have requested another draw down on the loan, so it means that the big stuff is coming soon. This mid section draw down was a considerable amount, so mortgage payments will be going upwards, ever going upwards until we reach the final amount agreed upon.

Tennis

Had a good game of tennis tonight, Sam and myself with Karen and Paul. I have been struggling to serve and tonight was no exception until the last moments of the game. I managed to get the bloody green ball over the bloody net at a pace worthy of hitting back. This was also time for me to learn how to hit the ball back over the net on a return of serve and win a few games. Still, we are not playing for cattle stations, its all about getting out there and having fun and getting fit.

not sure what to title this as…?

Tuesday, feels like a Friday and the week aint over yet. How very bizarre! I am off tomorrow and many things to do. Thankfully I didn’t send the e-mail round advising that I am on annual leave, as I am fairly confident that one of them (The Servers) will fall over. Every time I am off, one of the servers decides to get nasty. If I don’t say I am going to be off, they work fine, apart from Accpac….

So I am bound to get a new Drivers license as mine has become damaged, even though it sits in my wallet 24/7 god knows how that happens. RTA will no doubt annoy me tomorrow along with all the Asians lining up to get a license, even though only a fraction of them can actually speak engerish.

I shall return from the RTA and build more boxes and await Sam’s arrival so we can head off to look at another house. Fingers crossed this one is approved and we can move in on the weekend.I was really hoping that the next move, namely this one, would be into the new house we are building. But as you can see by the images displayed on this blog, the house is not ready. My aim is to hopefully pack as much of the downstairs up as humanly possible.

Work is chaos at the moment and undergoing some changes, all for the better. The Head office is being revamped, new signage and a general clean up. A new method for backing up is being implemented and sourced, brought about from our disaster a while back. Thankfully this will involve some weekend work.

The House – Duplex

This is an artists impression on the design of the house we are building. It is based upon a design from duplex.com.au and have made some alterations to suit our needs and requirements.

There are a few subtle changes to the layout and also the exterior. There are windows on the wall facing towards the front of the house in the back bedrooms. Colour scheme will differ slightly. It will be interesting to see the end product

There be Windows

…and not the Operating System kind. I dropped by this afternoon after work and took a few snap shots. If you go to my gallery (there is a link on my blog for Facebook readers)

Another House Move…oh joy

It must be close to 12 months since we moved into this house from Chipping Norton, So we must be moving again….Damn it! The owner of this house we pay a lot of rent for, has decided not to renew the lease. So we must move out. I was looking forward to moving, but moving into our newly built house (upon completion). So we are now faced with packing, moving and then possibly not unpacking at the new place as we will only be there for 3 – 4 months (although by my calculation it may be more like 5 – 6).

The thought of having to move one extra time is not appealing to me. Bugger!!!!
